Mydoom Virus Removal
Mydoom is a computer virus first sighted on 26th January 2004 which became the fastest-spreading e-mail worm till then. Mydoom was named so by a McAfee® security employee who discovered this worm and found the word “Mydom” in its code. Mydoom is believed to be commissioned by e-mail spammers to send junk e-mail using your computer and Internet connection. It spoofs the FROM address for its e-mails so that they appear to be sent by a genuine e-mail addresses (present in the PC) rather than the actual PC or user.
It can also spread via Kazaa peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing network. This mass mailing work often comes as an e-mail or IM attachment with a file extension of .bat, .cmd, .exe, .pif, .scr, or .zip. Mydoom worm was expected to be released by a programmer based in Russia. However, there is no proof for that. The early coverage of Mydoom performed denial-of-service-attack against a software company SCO group. It infected the company’s official website www.sco.com with flood of traffic.
